Okay, cue the nerves, my triathlon is tomorrow! Being the planner that I am, I started Googling “Triathlon Check Lists” and got some crazy detailed lists with tons of stuff I don’t have. Uh-oh, am I missing something?

Below is a what I will be packing for tomorrow. I didn’t think about music (I only have my iphone which is bulky) or my base clothing (last time  I just rocked a sports bra and shorts under my wetsuit and threw a tank top over in the transition). You would think someone so into planning would have prepared for this event out a little better.


  • Decide what my base suit will be
  • Warm Ups
  • Water
  • Figure out breakfast
  • Put numbers on bike & race belt


  • Wetsuit
  • Goggles
  • Swim Cap
  • Towel

I'm not in this, but off goes the sprinters!


  • Shoes & socks
  • Whatever clothing you choose (tank top, tee-shirt, short, etc.)
  • Helmet
  • Race belt
  • Water bottle
  • Sun glasses
  • Energy gel
  • Music source
  • Sunscreen
  • Deodorant (to rub between my thighs to prevent chaffing)

  • Hat or visor

So that’s  my amateur prep list, I really wish I had thought about this sooner than the day before the race! When will I ever learn?

Anyone have any advice on other things I should do?

    Good luck! Have you tried Body Glide instead of deodorant to prevent chafing? You won’t go back once you try it 🙂
