Ode to My Big Legs

I am pretty satisfied with the genetics I received from my parents. My Dad was intelligent and athletic and and my mom was pretty and athletic. Those made for some good genetic material. Out of the five children, four of us were high school athletes and two of us went on to do collegiate athletics. Even now, my brother Ben won the Canadian Junior wrestling nationals, my sister Leilani and my mum are Crossfitters, and I’m always dabbling in some athletic pursuit.

My only complaint about this genetic material are my legs. Did I HAVE to inherit my mothers enormous Samoan calves AND my Dad’s big muscular thighs? Couldn’t it have been one or the other?

Sometimes I’ll look at other athletes or fitness models and they look so good in their sports leggings, and then I put them on and feel like a drumstick.

The models legs and mine in the same leggings. Those palm trees are a little stretched out on mine.

But here’s the thing, those thighs and calves are strong and fast.

These legs have taken me up mountains

So when I can’t zip a boot up over my calves or look in the mirror at the drumsticks in leggings, I have to remember that these legs have carried me through a lot of good times and we still have a lot of adventures to go!

I like how buff my legs look here. :)
