I sure know how to party on a Friday night because last Friday I went to a Pedal Party at Lethbridge’s newest speciality studio, Kinetic Fitness. I found out about them at a trade show and was given a coupon for a free class so of course I had to try it out.

I know ho to party on a Friday night. P.S. almost everyone was in the centre row. No one wanted to be in the front.

Kinetic Fitness opened in September and is a specialized fitness facility in Lethbridge that offers indoor cycle classes as well as a series of other fitness classes.  Their schedule offers 66 classes a week and such a wide variety of classes!

On the cycle side they offer:

  • Crank of Dawn (early morning classes)
  • Easy Rider (a lower impact spin)
  • Lunchtime spin
  • Pedal Party
  • Spin Cycle
  • SPINergy (a cycle version of HITT)
  • Spin School 101

On the strength and cardio classes they offer:

  • Pilates
  • Bootcamp
  • BootyBarre
  • HIIT
  • Tabata Plus
  • Yoga Fusion
  • Zumba
  • Zumba Step
  • and so many more! See a full list of their classes HERE

What I thought was pretty cool is that you can register and pay for your classes online which was convenient.

You are given actual cycle shoes to use on the bikes which I have never used before and don’t know how I’ve competed in triathlons without them! They make SUCH a difference in your speed and power when you pull up as well as push down and are more comfortable than cages.

I felt legit wearing these cycle shoes

The studio owner Sandra was present and she helped all us newbies find the right bike settings, clip in, and taught us how to use our monitors.

I thought it was pretty awesome that the owner was helping us set up.

Speaking of monitors, let’s talk about the crazy technology in this class! All the bikes have monitors that give you calories, time, distance, RPM, and Watts but those are hooked up to a screen that displays it at the front of the class. The screen ranks the cyclists based on calorie burn, RPM, and power which is motivating because it pushes you to work as hard as the others in your class.I was on the bottom of the board the whole class and I would try so hard to get up there but couldn’t keep up. For competitive me, this was both frustrating and motivating. I know that I definitely pushed myself harder in this class than I have in any other because I could see how hard I was working compared to others.

The party aspect of this class is awesome. The music is all the new hits and the lights make you feel like you’re at a club. The class was only 50 minutes but I was WIPED by the end of it.

I am trying to get some girlfriends together to start attending a Pedal Party weekly as a girls night out. Most of us are over drinking and dancing in the clubs, so this is a much healthier alternative.  I would like to attend regularly to prepare for the Magrath Triathlon next year (I swear I’m training for this next one).

Pedal party!

Don’t be fooled by the lockers in the lobby, Kinetic is a full service facility with change rooms, towels and showers stocked with shampoo and conditioner.

As for cost, like most studios you can purchase a punch card or monthly packages, you can see their pricing details HERE.For the months of November and December your first class is free with a donation of mittens, suits, or toques to go to Streets Alive and Harbour House.

This is the first speciality cycle studio I’ve heard of in Lethbridge and I want to see it succeed so they can continue to offer these fun and challenging classes. Take advantage of that free with donation first class and check it out.

If you want to go with me, shoot me an email and we can meet there!

Got to get my cycle on again soon!
