When I lived in the Seattle area one of my family’s favourite things to do was go on a “Ferry Adventure.” The Washington State ferry system is amazing and there is no better feeling than gliding along the water on a short 20-40 minute “cruise” for $5, less than the cost of a movie.
While I was in Seattle this past week I went on two ferry adventures.
My little brother and I headed out on a typical overcast, misty Seattle day to the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry. After a fun trip over, we walked along Clinton beach and played around, took photos, and even explored a steep staircase (it lead to someone’s house-oops).
I made a mental note to bring my niece and nephew back to the beach because it was covered in shells and I promised them a shell collecting adventure.
When I went the second time with Ryan, my brother Bruce, my cousin Jenny and her kids the kids were really nervous and intimidated by the large vessel. Robyn started crying and asked us to leave her in the passenger waiting area and was crying. Dylan asked every worker he saw whether there were life boats and if the ferry could sink.
But halfway through the trip they loved it and were hooked.
Even better for them was the fun they had collecting shells. The filled up a grocery bag apiece and Dylan’s must have weighed 20 pounds!!
I highly suggest to anyone visiting the Seattle area to hop on a ferry with the family. It’s a cheap and fun adventure and even adults have a great time!
My next post in the next day or so will be a recap of my sisters wedding!!!
