Yes! Finally it’s Friday before a long weekend. Technically this weekend is the kick off to summer, though it doesn’t feel like it with the dreary weather we’re having here in Southern Alberta. But I don’t care, I’m headed to Fernie with my husband and the dogs for the weekend. We were smart and booked a hotel instead of trying to camp. This way we can hike in the rain and come back to a hot shower and warm, dry bed. #winning

Let’s talk about my training this week.

Friday- Sprinting- 6 x 200 m @ 80%

Saturday- 3 mile run &  Weights (walking lunges are death!)

Sunday- Rest Day

Monday- Run 2 miles & Softball 2 games

I said this in a post earlier this week, but in a short time I’m noticing a difference from my sprint workouts. I played my first two softball games of the season and  I was less winded, had more energy, and my legs felt lighter and faster as I ran around outfield and between bases.

Tuesday- Weights @ Goodlife

Wednesday- Rest Day

I wasn’t supposed to rest. In fact, I was supposed to have a hard track workout that I skipped on Monday because I didn’t want to be tired for softball. But if Jeff taught me anything at the 2XU camp it’s that pushing your body too hard does more damage than good. I was so tired I napped under my desk at lunch and my body still felt tired. So a rest day was necessary.

Thursday- Sprints- 8 X 150 m build ups

Body weight exercises- Ugh! I would much rather lift weights than do burpees! My coach had me do a bunch of crunches, squats, push ups and burpees as my strength training and I was huffing and puffing like no one’s business!

All in all it was a pretty good week. It’s difficult though to try to fit in working full time with a full training schedule and life. Getting home around 7 or 8 at night is not ideal (it means maybe an hour with Ryan before bed) but it’s necessary. If only I could flex my work schedule to do my two hour session at lunch and just stay an hour later instead. Oh well .

Also- a short video recap about my experience at the 2XU Training Camp came out on Facebook this week!

I can’t figure out how to embed a Facebook Video though so click on the photo to go to the link!
