Jimmy Styks Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board – Gear Review

Poor Ryan tries so hard to buy me presents and almost always gets something I don’t like and return. He was soooooo excited when he bought my dream toy, a stand up paddle board as a surprise present. He texted me that I was going to freak and that I owed him for life so I was very excited to get home and see what he had for me. However, when I saw the box the first words out of my mouth were “Oh babe, it’s an inflatable paddle board and I wanted an epoxy board.” Isn’t that terrible? He got upset and we even fought a little over it because I told him he should return it and save his money.

The next day I went online to read reviews and all I could find was glowing reviews about how it was a sturdy board, easy to pack, and great for playing on the water. I also noticed that Costco would accept a return if it was used so I opted to try it out.

We went out to the local lake and began to pump it up. Pumping this thing up is TOUGH! You need to pump it to a certain level and toward the end I had to put my entire body into it doing full squats using my entire body weight to pump it.

Off I went on the water and the dogs tried to follow me, which was really cute.

Basically- this is an unstable board! I have paddle boarded on the open ocean and in Waterton on a windy day so I know what choppy conditions really are. On this day there was only a light breeze and almost no chop and yet it took everthing I had to stabilize myself on this board.

You can see the water is NOT that choppy but the board was so tippy!

It took me all of five minutes to conclude that this board is not worth the $600 Ryan paid for it and I would never use it. I had Ryan try it out and he couldn’t even get off his knees it was so unstable!

I am no SUP expert, but I would not recommend this board to anyone.

Costco returned it no problem though which was good. I guess I’ll have to wait and save for a real SUP. I’ve been wanting once for more than five years now!! Some day I guess!

Some day Ill have my board
