Friday!! Finally! Oh man have I been beat all week. Daylight Savings legit kicked my ass. I’ve been in bed between 8:30 and 9 pm every night this week. One night I was in bed at 7:45 and out by 8:15!

Work wise this week was nuts because we had the Life Balance Fair (I have a student job at the University’s Wellness Department) to execute but it went well and now things at works will slow down.

I had an awful moment this week when I realized that I haven’t done any strength training in a month!! Lifting weights used to be part of my identity and now it’s a task that I keep pushing off. I have to sit down and do a better job with scheduling and energy management to prioritize my running & weights.

Let’s talk about ENERGY! When I worked a desk job it was easy to manage my energy and productivity. I knew that I had the most energy in the morning so I would schedule meetings and work on projects then. I typically crash at around 2 or 3 and that would be when I worked on simpler tasks such as email and research. But school is different because I start earlier, I’m active throughout the day in my PE classes, and I finish classes/work around 3 p.m. but  still have homework and a workout to fit in but am so beat all I want to do is nap.

What can I do around 2 or 3 (besides drink an energy drink or nap) to give me a boost of energy to get in a workout before I head home for homework? Anyone have advice?

Ok- let’s talk about my week!

Friday- Nothing

I did do something good for my health on Friday when I signed up for mixed curling this winter! I’m excited to curl with Ryan and it’s such a good activity to drag myself out of the house in the evenings.

Saturday- Hot Yoga (Power 60 Yin 30)

I went to Hot Yoga Lethbridge’s special Halloween black light session which was a lot of fun. It felt SOOO good to be back in the studio and I liked the vibe of power yoga, it’s much more my style than Bikram. My foot gave me a little pain during a few of the poses so I just adjusted accordingly.

Sunday- Nothing

Monday- Study Walk 2.15 miles

I am LOVING my study walks! I was studying for my gymnastics exam which I finished in 15 minutes!

Tuesday- Nothing

Wednesday- Handball 20 minutes

Thursday- Gymnastics- practising routines

Ah! My instructor gave us the checklist of skills he wants to do including pushing from a head stand to a hand stand AND doing a cartwheel on a beam! Ah!

Study Walk 2.53 miles

It’s getting cold. Toward the end of my walk my fingers were too numb to flip the cards.

As you can see, classes and stufy walks have me active but i have not been running or lifting because after classes I go straight home and nap.

Help! Fellow active students- how do you keep your energy levels up all day long?

    I’m really, really hoping I’m feeling all “recovered” from the time change next week! Man, this week was so brutal.

    I don’t think I could ever do a cartwheel on a balance beam anymore! I’m so scared of things like that now that I’m older lol. Black light yoga sounds so fun! I prefer warm/hot yoga that isn’t Bikram too. Or maybe I’m just not yogi enough yet haha.

      Bikram is good and all but it doesn’t have that zen vibe I like with yoga so power yoga is perfect!
