Friday Fitness Recap- Nov.20

Friday- Fast Intervals on Treadmill (2 miles total)  NTC Workout @ Goodlife

Boy I love how much a treadmill keeps me going. It’s so easy to slow your pace down when you’re tired when running on the road. But on a treadmill you have to push a button to slow down which you don’t want to do so you just push yourself that much more.

NTC Workout 30 minutes

Killed it in an empty studio at the gym with the Nike Training Club App. I love the functional fitness routines and boy do they ever challenge me! Push ups with one hand on a medicine ball- say what?

Saturday- Outdoor Tempo Run where I realized I don’t know how to run

I need to learn how to pace man! I would vary from a 12 minute mile to a 7:30 minute mile (with a lot of stopping to catch my breath) when all I wanted was a steady 10 minute mile. I’ll get it- it just takes time and when it comes to distance running I’m a total dunce!

Sunday- Two hour hike to Crandell Lake

We did 2.4 km in and out and I don’t know how much around the lake. It was an absolute beauty day for a hike!

Monday- Nothing

Whoops! This was supposed to be a run/strength day but I was so unbelievably exhausted and hungry I had to go home and eat and nap instead.

Tuesday- Gymnastics 1 hour

I came up with a great hashtag for this photo #oldladygymnastics !

I’m starting to go to the gym to practise on my own. As you may remember we have a lot of skills to learn and me being a perfectionist want to learn them all so I need more than my twice a week hour long classes. I was stoked too because I got over my fear of round offs off the beam! Woot! Woot!

Bikram Yoga 90 minutes

I looooooove hot yoga! I feel so relaxed and stretched out and chill when I get out of the studio. I just wish I had the time and money to go on a regular basis.

Wednesday- Nothing

You guys! I think I have a mental block! Because I have designated Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays for running and strength training my brain wants out and makes me so hungry that I lose all focus and have to eat! Do you know what I ate on Wednesday? OMG this is embarrassing- SIX homemade tacos and two hours later I was still hungry so I ate a huge plate of Chinese food! Sprouts, broccoli, rice, and beef! Needless to say I was so full that I could not motivate myself to hit that treadmill.

Thursday- Gymnastics- 1.5 hours

We spent the class doing springs and everyone (even the super fit guys) were sweating and puffing like crazy! I went back to the gym again after classes to practice but there was a preschool class going on and an audience full of moms about my age. I was a little embarrassed so I only practiced for about 45 minutes, mainly on my bridges and left.

Tomorrow is the Clause Cause 5k! I figure having my Garmin tell me my pace will make it easier to stay at a quicker pace- I hope!

HIT THE GYM!

Winter weather got you in full on hibernation mode? Pull yourself out of it and hit the gym! From November 22-30, GoodLife is hosting a ParticipACTION Open House and will be giving Canadians access to all clubs across the country for free!

Remember ParticipACTION? As a kid we would have activity monitoring sheets and we would track all our activity and try to meet goals (that was a ParticipACTION initiative). And then of course you have to remember the Body Break commercials with Hal & Joanne? I watched them on the Amazing Race Canada and you can tell they’re still given ‘er all these years later. It doesn’t get more Canadian than Hal & Joanne!

Back in the day

Back in the day

And now

And now- exercises sure keeps you looking good!

So here’s what you need to do:

Disclaimer- I am a Goodlife Ambassador but my thoughts and opinions are, as always, my own. My love of Hal and Joanne goes way back. Ha ha!

I loooove Bikram yoga. It’s one of the things I miss about Lethbridge – they have such a great studio.
It’s so exciting that you’re training for your first halfie! You should pick up the book Chi Running – it has everything you need + more when it comes to learning how to run.
