Friday Fitness Recap- Dec.18

Happy birthday to me! Have you read about my amazing year of being 30 and the valuable life lessons I learned? If not, go check it out!

I am still going strong on my running streak. I’ve had a couple of tough days where running was the LAST thing I wanted to do but I told myself to suck it up and get on that damn treadmill and do my one mile minimum. The only problem is that I haven’t done much else besides running so I need to squeeze in strength training and a little more cross training. That being said, classes are done, work is done for the year and I now have two weeks off to play! I have so many activities planned!

My sister Leilani flies in tomorrow and we’ll be in Canmore/Banff for two days before coming home and I have a full “Canadian experience” planned for her! Can’t wait!

Friday- 2 mile run @ Goodlife

I had originally planned another 4-miler but wearing fleece lined leggings in the gym is a bad idea. I was sweating my balls off!

Saturday- Outdoor run 3 miles

I can’t get over how mild this month has been! I took the dogs out for a 3 mile run in a hoodie! It was THAT nice out!

Sunday- Hot Yoga & 1 mile run with Cat

Cat, Rachelle, and I tried out the Grounding series at Hot Yoga Lethbridge which was AMAZING! I didn’t think I had much tension in my hips and glutes because I foam roll but this class really worked out a lot of stuff. I was soaked in sweat after from the effort.

After yoga Cat and I forced ourselves to get in our daily mile. We both agreed it should have been done before yoga class but the day was so nice and that one mile flew by.

Monday-Icy 1 mile run

I didn’t have work or classes on Monday so I decided ot be hard core and do a long run of 5-7 miles on Monday. I packed up my excursion running belt with some energy chews and water and headed off with the dogs. Well, I wasn’t dressed warm enough because my legs started tingling from the cold right away. After a half mile I said “Nuts to this” and turned around and went back to the car. Cold runs are so not my thing.

Tuesday- Rough 1 mile

Tuesday was the day I DID NOT want to run! I had finished a day of work and a final and wanted nothing more than to curl up on the coach and continue binge watching The 100 on Netflix. But I forced myself to do it and I’m glad I did.

Wednesday- Cold 3 mile run

I didn’t plan to run outside on Wednesday We had a dump of snow and it was -7C but when I started to put on my running shoes to run on the treadmill the dogs looked so hopeful and excited that I decided to tough it out and take them out. This time I wore a heavy North Face coat and fleece lined leggings which made all the difference. I was able to get in 3 miles, it sucked because at 1.5 miles my iphone froze and died and I had no music but it was a good run none the less.

Thursday- 1 mile run

Ugh! It took everything I had to get in this little run. I had a full day of work, a final, errands, and a then- a n elementary school Christmas play. Is there anything worse than being crammed onto hard bleachers for two hour watching a bunch of kids sing off key? You see your kid for one number and then have to watch all the rest!

So there you have it! A great week of running. Now it’s about to get really tough because I’ll be doing some long drives, family time and events but I am going to stick to my guns and keep up this running streak!
