Teeth Confessions

You guys- I HATE teeth! They freak me out so much. As a kid I would never ever pull out a loose tooth. I would wiggle and wiggle it until it was hanging by a thread and then wait for it to come out in some food. My brother Bruce on the other hand was the “family dentist” and would dig out all the other kids loose teeth with a butter knife! I think that’s why I have the straightest teeth in the family.

But alas, you would think someone who hates the dentist and is worried about the health of her teeth would be impeccable about maintenance but I am not. When I was asked to take part in the #ColgateDailyRepair campaign and to share a confession or two about my mouth health I became a little chagrin.

I skip wearing my mouthguard

I grind my teeth really bad at night and I have a custom mouthguard because I have fracture lines in all my teeth and the dentist says it is wreaking havoc on my bite. But I hate having that clunky thing in my mouth! And I hate having to wait those few precious minutes to warm it up under the tap. For someone who doesn’t want dentures I really need to smarten up.

I don’t floss

Ugh! So here’s the thing- I go to bed early like between 8:30-9:30- and when I’m ready for bed I’m exhausted. When I go to brush my teeth I just want to be in and out so I can crash. When I bought the single use flossers with a handle I flossed more often than the traditional because I am seriously that lazy.

So how about you dear readers? What teeth/mouth thing do you tend to skip? Please tell me I’m not the only one! Maybe you never change your toothbrush? Or you forget to brush before bed? Make me feel better and confess. Ha ha ha!

But as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!

I have no teeth confessions to make, except I take impeccable care of them. Cleanings 3 times per year, nightly flossing, brushing two times each day and gargling with Listerine fresh mint. My dad spent too much money on braces. I did at one point have bleeding gums, but my hygienist told me I was flossing too vigorously.

Oh man. I’m terrible for flossing. It lasts a few days after going to the dentist and then I get lazy. Also, I don’t brush before bed. I blame my parents because they never made me brush before bed so I just don’t have that habit in me. Terrible, I know.
