I seriously can’t wait for April 15 you guys! Not only is it my LAST day of classes and my LAST set of exams for the semester, but it’s the day Ryan and I take off for Jasper so I can run a 10k! jasper-half-with-sponsor

I’m running in the 10k race of the inaugural Jasper Half Marathon and my Alberta reads have one week left to register online and join me! They have a half ($100), 10k ($60), 5k ($50), and 1k fun run ($25).

I’ve only driven through Jasper once a couple years ago so I’m super excited to stay for the weekend. I won’t get as much time to hike as I would like because it’s a quick trip. We’ll arrive Friday night, race Saturday afternoon and hit the after party Saturday night and Sunday we head home! Yikes! I’m hoping Sunday morning we can squeeze in a quick hike before we leave.

I’ve been doing some research on 1-3 hour hikes in Jasper and there are a few that look pretty good- Stanley Falls and Maligne Canyon stand out the most as short but gorgeous.

We’re going to be staying at the Fairmont Jasper which looks so beautiful and an awesome romantic getaway! Pinch me- I’m too excited!

As for my 10k, we’ll see how it goes. The knot in my left glute has been so severe that I’ve taken a break from running and have been foam rolling like crazy. I just had a deep tissue massage on it last night and hope the knot is gone! But who cares how fast I run? I’m going to be running in Jasper! So stoked!!

Who’s going to join me? Come on! You know you want to!

What would you recommend for a quick but amazing hike that I can squeeze in?

Ah! Have so much fun. I stayed at the Fairmont Jasper just before Liam was born. It was so nice.

I love the Lodge! Soaking in their outdoor hot tub would be the perfect way to relax post-race. We stayed at the Lodge a few years ago in April and hiked the trail around the lake to Old Fort Point and back. It was a pretty easy hike, but nice because it was right at the hotel.

That hot tub will definitely be used post race! Thanks for the tip on the hike, I’ll have to check it out!

[…] Butt knot update- I feel I have talked way too much about my butt lately but this knot is severe! Anyway, I went to the local college massage clinic and was able to get a student to work on it for only $30. It is so awkward to go in and say “Please massage my butt.” She really loosened it up a lot though, so much that I thought it was gone, but yesterday I felt it back there when I was stretching. I’m going to keep grinding away at it with a golf ball or foam roller and hope I can get it all out before next weekends 10k! […]
