Friday Fitness Recap- June 3

It’s June 3rd- any Gilmore Girls fans out there know what today should  have been? God I’m a nerd. Anyway, hi and hello! This week started off awesome with a hike in Waterton and a long run on Saturday but I have been struggling to keep up with my training program. Part of the reason is because Monday and Wednesdays are write off days for me where I work all day and then have a three hour class so I’m on campus from 9am- 9pm. Luckily summer sessions ends in June but starting in July I’m going back to a full time schedule between my part time job at the University and coaching part time at Extreme Cheer Sensation summer camps. I think this may be the summer I finally start getting up early to run. We’ll see.

Friday- Hike up Bears Hump

Saturday- Long Run- 6 slow miles

Sunday- Easy 20 minute run

Monday- Nothing

Tuesday- Timed 1.5 miles

This was a disaster. So in our training plan it said to do a time 3k with a 10 minute warm up and cool down. I do everything in miles and after seeing the conversion was 1.8 miles I dropped it down to 1.5 miles. I headed to Henderson Lake and after my warm up I stretched and got ready. My goal was to average 8:30/mile and thanks to my TomTom I would know my pace. So I started off WAY to fast and hard and when I looked at my TomTom it said I was running an 11:00/mile. I didn’t understand how that was possible so I sped up. I obviously didn’t make it far and had to stop and walk to catch my breath. This is how the entire run went. When I finished my 1.5 miles I did it in 15:07 which is what I would have done it if I had jogged slow and steady the whole time! And then I realized that my TomTom wasn’t on the current pace setting it was on the average pace setting! Doh!

How cool do I look with two watches on? Ha ha! One was to time the 1.5 miles the other to track the entire run

Wednesday- Study Walk 30 minutes

I had about an hour between work and class and was writing a midterm so I busted out my notecards and got in a study walk.

Thursday- Nothing

Whoops! I was supposed to do an easy 35 minute run but it was the elementary school track and field regionals and I wanted to watch my stepson. I have never been able to watch before because they always do their track events during the school day when  most of us are at work.

That’s been my week so far fitness wise. This week also marked the kick off of the Bikini Ready Challenge and I hit Superstore for a big grocery shop and spent hours yesterday prepping the snacks that could be frozen. This way throughout the month I can just grab them and go. I’m technically kicking off Day 2 so there isn’t too much to report just yet.

Every morning this month gets kicked off with the Bloat Banisher. I didn't think I would like a drink with cayenne but I really do!
