Superfood for the Skin

Algae on your face? Who would have thought that slimy green stuff that comes from the ocean would become the next super food supplement and a moisturizing lotion ingredient? Crazy, yet it is actually making a splash among consumers!

Karen Dermo Cosmetic Moisturizing Lotion (by New Brunswick-based Blugenics Innovations) contains phytoplankton– also known as microalgae – which is packed with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and a long list of other nutrients.

A face, hand and body lotion, Karen Dermo Cosmetic Moisturizing Lotion has shown in clinical trials to be highly effective in enhancing skin elasticity and regeneration, strengthening skin hydration, eliminating itchiness and protecting against skin dryness, photoaging, wrinkles and sagging. With wound-healing properties, the lotion serves as an anti-inflammatory agent, stimulates skin cell growth and treats such skin issues as eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.

What is Phytoplankton?

  • Found in the ocean.
  • Also known as microalgae.
  • Microscopic marine plants with a complete nutritional profile that supports all ocean life.
  • Considered the world’s original vegetable.
  • Packed with omega fatty acids, vitamins A, C, D and K, beta carotene, dietary fibre, antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, selenium, iron and protein.
  • Karen Phytoplankton is a source of zeaxanthin, an antioxidant for the maintenance of good health.
  • Karen Phytoplankton is grown in a state of the art “closed environment” facility, free of pollution and contaminants.

My Thoughts

So what did I think? It sure as hell SAVED my hands. My sample was too small to slather on my body and besides, I had nail cracks and white wrinkled dry hands that needed some TLC.

It moisturizes instantly and last for quite a while IF you don’t go pee all the time and constantly wash your hands like I do. I’m sure that’s why my hands are probably perpetually dried out- seriously, they look like the Crypt Keepers hands on some days.

It isn’t scented but it’s not stinky either, it just has a lotion kind of smell to it. I’m curious to see if it helps with my skin elasticity with regular use.
