Remember the awful saga of Apollo’s infected foot last summer? You can read a little more about it HERE but basically he chewed up a torn pad, it became infected, and it was two months and $1800 of hell!

After all this happened, I vowed that as soon as I was back to work full time, pet insurance would be on the list of extras that really help in the long run. So when Petsecure asked if I was interested in learning more about their services I of course said yes!

Petsecure is a 100% Canadian owned and operated insurance company for dogs and cats that provides insurance coverage for your pet in case of accidents and illnesses. They have protected 1.3 million pets over the last 28 years.

They cover 80% of the eligible veterinary bill! So that means if we has a policy when all that happened, we would have only paid out $360. Wouldn’t that have made life easier!

On his way home from the vet

Petsecure is different than a lot of other companies though because they cover:

  • veterinarian exam fees and taxes
  • dental coverage
  • alternative therapies (acupuncture, chiropractic care, massages and homeopathy treatments)

MASSAGE!!! I could take the boys for a doggie massage and it would be covered.

Petsecure offers plans; Secure 1, Secure 2, Secure 3, & Secure 4. The Secure 4 plan has unlimited coverage for accidents and illnesses. There are 2 deductible options to choose from.

With Petsecure, there is no age limit to insure your pet. Some pet insurance companies don’t cover senior pets.

They also offer a multi-pet discount if customers sign up 3 or more pets.

Poor sad doggy

After writing about this company, I told Ryan that as soon as I’m back at work we have to sign our boys up for an insurance plan. I know you always question whether or not the monthly payment is worth it but with a plan that covered their exams, dental, and emergencies- you really will wind up better off for it in the end. I know we would have been.
