Fall Running Essentials

I love fall! I love the cool, crisp air, the beautiful leaves. I also love how there are less people out; although come on people- get outside and enjoy!

But lately I’ve been struggling with yet another life transition- working mommy. I’ve been subbing 3-4 times a week and have been making excuses to not workout on days I teach. Yes, I’m tired. Yes, I want to spend those precious hours with TyTy before he goes to bed. Yes, I like to go to bed at 9 p.m. But those are all excuses, I need to suck it up, and get outside the minute TyTy closes his eyes for the night.

Anyone who knows me knows I need an event to train for so I’ve decided to focus on training to run a faster 5k for a race at the end off the year.

Because I want to focus on speeding up my pace, I found a great Intermediate training program to start this week after the holidays!

I found a great Intermediate training program online and am going to push myself to follow

As I begin this fall running journey, I thought I would share a few essentials!

GOOD SHOES

Fall is not the time to wear your worn out runners from the summer. The mornings can be frosty and it’s typically wet and slippery. Make sure you have a good pair of shoes with plenty of grip to avoid spills!

WARM ACTIVEWEAR

Fleece lines leggings are my favourite thing in cold weather! They are so cozy and warm. I just got a pair of SKINS DNAmic thermal windproof tights which are going to be great this fall and winter!

Especially paired with a cute matching DNAmic CORE Speed sports bra and a Siken Sports Long Sleeve top.

SKINS is an Australian active wear company that creates high-tech, top-spec active and compression gear.

HEADLAMP

I have the BEST HAT EVER! It’s a Cabela camo baseball cap with a built in light in the brim! It’s perfect for twilight runs when I need some extra light to see where I’m going. We’re quickly losing daylight, so be sure to have a headlamp handy!

GLOVES

Even if the sun is shining away, it’s often chilly enough for cold fingers on your run. Make it a habit to keep a lightweight pair of gloves in your pocket because numb fingers suck!

Those are the essentials I’ll have during my fall training.

What do you always have when you go on runs in the fall?
