I am a sleeper! If I could, I would be asleep by 8 p.m. every night and sleep until 7 or 8 a.m. the next morning. I always say that my high energy comes from a combination of lots of sleep and lots of coffee. But like all busy moms, there are some nights my mind won’t stop and it takes forever to fall asleep. I thought I would share 7 natural ways to help you have a better sleep.
Don’t crank out a hard workout too close to bed, it will amp you up. But doing very light exercise like an evening walk or yoga will help to slow down your mind and ease tensions before bed.
2. Avoid Screens
I’m one of those psychos who likes falling asleep to TV. I credit that to growing up in a very loud household of five children, noise at bedtime soothes me. But experts say you should avoid all blue light at least one hour prior to going to bed. Read a book or listen to music in the hour leading up to sleep.
3. Take a Bath
I love a good bath! Besides the fact that it can help you relax internally, the warming up of your body helps signal that it’s time to sleep.
4. Sip on Tea
Our bodies love to warm up before going to sleep. Like a bath, sipping on some herbal tea (especially chamomile) will help signal to your body that it’s time to rest.
5. Avoid eating too close to bed
Who doesn’t love whipping out the snacks as you wind down for the evening. This unhealthy habit will not only add some lbs to your frame but it will also interrupt your sleep. Your body needs time to digest food and it will affect your sleep quality if you go to bed full. If you’re feeling snacky, try sticking to that herbal tea!
6. Herbal Remedies like PascoFlair
There are herbal remedies you can take to help you sleep like Pascoflair, which help relieves restlessness, nervousness and aids your sleep.
Some key points about it include;
- Calms the mind
- Shuts off running thoughts
- Non-habit forming
- Fall asleep fast / Wake up feeling refreshed
- Pascoflair® is made with 425 mg of dry extract of passiflora incarnata (passion flower) per pill (tablet)
- This is the highest dose of passion flower extract available on the market today
7. Control Your Thoughts
This is a sleep trick I taught myself when I was really young. It’s impossible to sleep if you’re thinking about life, tangible things that need to be done or dealt with. Try controlling your thoughts and “day dream” about something so far off from real life that it could never happen. I swear by this trick.
I’ll put my head on my pillow and start day dreaming that I’m married to Prince Harry or I’m an Olympic athlete, or a jet setting socialite. I’ll lay there and create these outlandish scenarios in my head because it distracts me from stressful thoughts. I’ve found doing this helps me fall asleep faster because it’s like forcing yourself to dream.
So there you have it, 7 natural ways to help you have a better sleep that aren’t too difficult to implement.
Whatever you do, good sleep is essential for a healthy life. Prioritize sleep over everything else!
