I knew going into my cesarean that I would not be allowed to do anything strenuous for six weeks after TyTy’s birth, but I had no idea  how hard that would be!

During the first week I was still in pain and pretty slow moving from the incision, but once I hit Week 2 I felt better and ready to go. It also helped that the weather finally warmed up and after a winter being pregnant and cooped up indoors, I want to spend as much time outside as possible! But I was specifically warned by the nurse not to be fooled by feeling better, that I had to stick to the rules of not picking anything up heavier than the baby, no housework (I broke that rule a little- a gal can only take so much), and no exercise except slow walks.

I have two more weeks to go before my doctor appointment and have been taking the baby out every day for a long, slow walk of about 1-1.5 hours but it’s hard for me not to just break out in a run.

As for my body, initially the weight melted off in the first couple of weeks. Every day I would wake up and my stomach and the numbers on the scale were down. But my stomach was hiding something I hadn’t noticed in the last months of my pregnancy, cellulite! Lots of cellulite! I put on shorts for the first time and was shocked at the amount of cellulite on my legs. So I’m taking a deep breath and reminding myself that once I start running, that will clear up too.

In the meantime, I’m indulging in all the reality TV shows I never had time for before (all the Real Housewives- ha ha!) and I’m snuggling my little man as much as possible and just LOVING this bonding time.
