This past weekend marked my fifth year competing in the Lethbridge Dragon Boat Festival. This year I was on a new team, Screamin’ Seaman. Ha! Isn’t that a great name?

On Saturday, our first race was a 2:34 and our second was a 2:27. We ended the day ranking 17 out of 61 teams and in C Division.
On Sunday we pulled a 2:29 coming in first to qualify for the finals. That fourth race was a hard one too, we were tired and up against some good teams.  When we crossed the finish line it was so close no one could tell who won. We won  with a time of 2:26.47, the second place team came in at 2:27.03, only 0.56 seconds slower! A half second!
We ended the event placing 18th overall.

My team was pretty psyched about winning and there was a lot of celebrating in the beer gardens after. They had to race through the awards ceremony though because an insane storm was headed for the lake with thunder, lightning and hail!
All in all, it was another fun weekend, another great event! I only wish I could race more than once a year!

One team actually tipped this year!!
Looks like fun! My sis used to dragon boat race in Hawaii and loved it 🙂
I would love to try in Hawaii!
