I felt so good after the Moonlight Run last month! I trained hard and was happy with my time and performance and kept up my training to prepare for the Lethbridge College 10/4 Miler. That is, until wicked food poisoning knocked me on my butt for over a week. I felt better the following week but was just too lazy to bother to train. I think I got two runs in in the three weeks leading up to the race.

What goes around comes around because that race was a struggle! I had to walk before I even hit the first mile marker. I think I walked more than I ran. The whole time I was yelling at myself (in my head) for allowing myself to fall out of shape in a matter of weeks, especially when I have a triathlon coming up next month.
When I rounded the corner to the finish line, I saw a one armed chubby woman who had a head start ahead of me and my competitiveness kicked in. I know it sounds silly, but I didn’t want to come in behind her and look like she beat me- my pride just wouldn’t allow it. Though I was exhausted and had nothing left I kicked it into a massive sprint and beat her by about 20 seconds. Lol.
I still sucked, my final time was 46:07. Which is about a 11:30 minute mile. Ouch!! I learned my lesson. I am hitting the gym and hitting it hard. No more marathon cuddle sessions on the couch with my honey, I have GOT to get my butt into gear.
Ha. Well, at least you beat her! 🙂
I hope the training for the triathlon goes well! You’re braver than I am for doing that.
Good job on the race!!
Thanks. It was a wake up call though! I have to stop being so lazy and get back to training!
