Last week I had to travel to Edson, Alberta for a workshop. I was very excited to get back into the forest (where I belong) but even more so for the opportunity to road trip through Banff and Jasper. The drive from Lethbridge to Edson is about 7.5 hours, but if you go through the mountains like I did, then it’s 11. While the drive was long it was worth every minute as I saw some of the most spectacular scenery!
CANMORE
I love Canmore, when I worked at Waymarker Hospitality, they owned the Georgetown Inn (a must see!) and Silver Creek Lodge so I was able to go up there a few times and stay in each hotel. This town has such a cute downtown area with shopping and art galleries. I walked past a furniture gallery boasting a sign “Dogs Welcome”!

BANFF
I didn’t actually stop n Banff, the few times I have been there the congestion has been annoying. But the drive through was gorgeous!
Lake Louise
On my road trip must see list was Lake Louise, one of the most iconic Alberta photo sites anywhere. I was a little sad when I got there to see low cloud cover obscuring part of the view but it was still gorgeous.

Watch my blog for Part 2- Jasper & Snow!
Amazing shots….All the places are exquisitely beautiful….The Banff drive through is really spectacular and lake Louise is so calm and serene…Canada is truly endowed with exceptional natural beauty…

Thanks! It was such an incredible trip! So worth adding 4 hours onto my drive if I had taken the shortest route. Ha ha!
Just wondering if there is a sequel to this post.. 🙂 I so much want to see more of Canmore and Banff…
There is! I have a recap of the Jasper leg of my trip coming tomorrow! No more Canmore or Banff photos though. 🙁
Looking forward to!!!
