We are all in full wedding mode here in Seattle getting ready for my sister Laura’s big day this Saturday! But I had a spare 30 minutes and I wanted to share our funny adventures in Vancouver for her bachelorette party.
The theme of the movie was the “The Sweetest Thing” after one of our favorite movies to watch as sisters. If you haven’t seen it, do it now! It’s a hilarious chick flick from the 90s.
We started the day by dressing up in our “party clothes” for the two hour drive. We dressed up like the girls in the movie, Laura wore the red pants a la Cameron Diaz and the rest of us had to either where cheetah print dresses or vests and jeans.

As you can see, I looked like a straight up hooker. It was really funny when we stopped in Bellingham for a sushi lunch and got the dirtiest looks when we walked in!
We finally made it to Vancouver and began looking for the Howard Johnson downtown. Now, when you hear Howard Johnson you think a mid-level hotel similar to the Best Western or the Holiday Inn right? NOT the case with the Vancouver Howard Johnson. When we walked into our room I laughed so hard I cried.
It was basically a dirty Motel 6. With stained carpets, mystery stains on the walls, open pipes, and a teeny tiny window.

Laura got on her phone with her fiancee and he immediately got online and booked us suites at the Four Seasons. It felt SO good to pull up to the valet and let them take our luggage and just walk on up to our rooms.

We began the long process of getting ready and played a few bachelorette games while drinking champagne to get the party going. When we were done games we realized that it was 9:30 and because we hadn’t eaten since lunch and drank all that champagne each one of us was either drunk or really tipsy.

We hopped in taxi’s and headed to Moxies, the place we always go to dinner at in Vancouver because we simply love their beautiful bathroom!

After dinner we headed down to Granville Street, freezing because everyone insisted we “freeze for fashion” and not wear coats.

It was really funny though because Laura didn’t feel up for a club and wanted to hit a nice lounge or wine bar. So we walked the length of Granville trying to find one and just couldn’t find a single one! All of a sudden we were at the end of the street, a block away from our hotel so we asked laura where she wanted to go or what she wanted to do and she said “I really just want to go back to the hotel and put on sweatpants and relax.” We all laughed and said “YES!”
I think it’s safe to say that we have all outgrown the clubbing stage of our lives and now value good times with our friends and family.
We hung out and ordered room service and chatted for hours until finally turning in.
On Sunday morning I woke my sister Leilani up early to go on a walk along the waterfront with coffee. I love Vancouver and if I ever move to a city again, that will be the one.

After our walk, everyone else was awake and we decided to enjoy a little bit of Four Seasons life so we donned our robes and headed down to the beautiful indoor/outdoor pool for a swim and sauna session before checking out.
Then it was time to get dressed up in another Sweetest Thing inspired outfit and head for the Dockside Restaurant on Granville Island.

It was a fantastic weekend with my sisters and gave me a chance to bond with her friends and my fellow bridesmaids.
I better run now- we have so many details to work out before Saturday! Have a wonderful week!
Four Seasons!! FANCY!!
Looks like you’re having a great time – I love how much you travel.
Ps. I’d totally live in Vancouver, too. Mountains + ocean = perfect
April has been such an amazing travel month for me! I don’t know how I’ll be able to settle back into my regular routine. That’s why I love Vancouver so much too, it has my two favourite things; mountains and ocean. Perfect!
It sounds like a fun sister/girls trip before your sisters big day! Vancouver is a beautiful city with so much to do. I’m over on Salt Spring Island!
