My nausea kicked in at week 7 meaning that for 10 weeks now, this coffee addict hasn’t had ANY coffee. For the first two months it was because I was way too sick to stomach something so acidic. But when my nausea went away, and they said one cup of coffee a day is safe, I happily asked Ryan to make enough for me one weekend. But the smell of it made my stomach turn and I decided that though I was a 4-6 cups of coffee a day person before, this baby is no fan.
So what’s a coffee drinker to do? The cup I missed most was the first. It was my morning ritual to get up extra early to sip a cup of hot coffee while reading my favourite blogs. And then Vega came to my rescue! (P.S. This is NOT a sponsored post in any way)
While grocery shopping, Vega protein powder was on massive sale. I had been craving a protein chocolate peanut butter smoothie so grabbed what I thought was chocolate flavoured powder. It turned out to be Mocha flavoured but it was still tasty.
On top of that tub was a recipe for a protein coffee:
- 1 scoop Vega mocha protein powder
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1 cup coffee
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
I decided to try it with some alterations, subbing the hot water and coffee for boiled lactose free milk and VOILA’! I have a nourishing, tasty hot beverage in the morning to sip on the drive into work.
What’s your morning go-to drink?
