The mountains haven’t been just calling- they have been demanding my presence! And when Ryan told me he was going to work this Monday, a holiday, I packed up Rocky and headed to the Rockies.

I love hiking in the winter because the trails are virtually deserted so I let Rocky off his leash. This dog is SUCH a December baby! His birthday is December 27 and snow runs through his veins, just like me!
Bertha Falls is a great easy hike with little elevation gain.
I had my ipod in my pocket but never bothered to take it out. I enjoyed the quiet of the trail and talking to Rocky like the crazy dog lady that I am. Ha ha!

After Bertha Falls, we ate lunch at the lake shore but it was hard to enjoy as the cold wind was howling! I wasn’t ready to call it a day so we stopped at a bay just east of the Parks Offices and walked along the lake shore for awhile. The wind was howling the whole walk so we only did about 30 minutes but the view was spectacular.
On the way out of the park, the slow moving ice caught my eye.
All in all, it was an amazing day! The only downside was that the cold wind made me sick! Crazy sick! I am on day 2 right now sipping hot lemon water and green juice and taking hot baths to sweat it out. Worth it.
